Can You Spot the Deepfake? Most People Look at the Wrong Things

Two webcam feeds. One question. If you were checking blinking, teeth, skin or eyes, that is exactly the problem. Modern fake video hides many of the old tells. A clean face is not authenticated. Your eyes are only layer one. This Cyber Mechanics episode teaches a six-layer check instead of a glitch hunt: 1. SOURCE - where did the file come from?

2. PROVENANCE - what does the file's history actually prove? 3. FRAMES - inspect motion across samples, not one still 4. AUDIO - listen to the room, not only the voice 5. CONTEXT - a real video can carry a false claim 6. LIVE TEST - a live call is no longer proof of identity Then the request changes. Transfer $240,000. Video identity is not payment authorization.

Call back on a number you already know. Detector scores are evidence. They are not a verdict. NIST reports that detectors can degrade when they leave the lab. The FBI lists visual and audio abnormalities as possible clues, not as proof. Content Credentials can record origin. They do not prove the speaker is telling the truth.

The $240,000 transfer in this film is fictional. The method is not. Defensive education only. No creation recipes. No detector-bypass methods. Shorts from this episode Which One Is the Deepfake?
